About the Community Heat Team Hub
We provide tools, training and practical resources to enable community groups across Scotland to set up their own Community Heat Teams, helping their local households to reduce energy costs, stay warm and healthy, and cut CO2 emissions
Community Heat Team Hub
We believe local community groups are uniquely positioned to engage with their local households to help them become more energy efficient and reduce their carbon footprint. This helps households save money, stay warmer and healthier and reduce their CO2 emissions. And it helps communities transition to a low carbon, sustainable way of life.
We also believe that highly visual thermal (Heat) surveys, backed up by information resources and signposting to expert support, can be a powerful way to drive awareness and interest in energy efficiency and low carbon heating, and help households move to researching options and taking decision to ‘do something’.
The practical aim of the Community Heat Team Hub is to make available a ‘Heat Survey Kit Bag’ providing everything that any community group could require to set up their own free Heat Survey service.
This allows community groups to spend more time talking and interacting with their communities, and less time working out how to do things and re-inventing wheels!
The Hub is a networked ‘citizen science’ based cooperative of community groups, dedicated to capturing & sharing knowledge, information and best practice, whilst enabling each community group to develop its own locally tailored solutions as it sees fit.
The Hub is managed and coordinated by a small central team, working across communities and regions, creating re-usable assets in response to the needs of the community group members.
